Volume 2 Chapter 4

Since the EU is heavily import dependent, energy dependency will be investigated for all energy forms as well as its consequences on international relations. The new gas corridors which are being constructed will be assessed since they assure that more gas will flow freely towards the EU rendering possible a fluid and strategically secure gas market which helps reducing the EU gas price. In this part we will analyse the Nord Stream pipeline (including the new second one), the South Stream pipeline, the Southern Gas Corridor and the creation of a gas hub in the Mediterranean Sea for taking advantage of the new gas discoveries in this region. The development of interconnectors in the Baltic region will show that this has a tremendous effect in all Nordic EU countries.
