This chapter opens with a brief overview of theoretical consideration about geopolitics. We will explain how technology has been able to reshape the energy geopolitics of the past into a new paradigm. This will be presented in some detail and in particular we will analyse the reasons behind the radical return of the price of oil to a more rational level after ten years of manipulation. This new situation of plenty is leading to a new global governance. The chapter ends with the geographical and geopolitical analysis of the hot maritime points where large volumes of the world’s oil are passing. This highlights the need for important international policy considerations.
